I first discovered paid blogging in late January of 2007. Paid blogging has led me to a few clients who have me do other types of writing work for them, and that money combined with paid blogging and the occasional advertising stint has allowed me to stay at home with my children. Paid blogging and everything it has led me to has paid for the laptop I’m typing on, the mouse I’m navigating my computer with, the t-shirt I’m wearing, the decorations on the Christmas tree, and a lot of the presents that are under the Christmas tree. It paid for the new tires I had put on my car Monday evening, the insurance policy I renewed Wednesday afternoon, the digital camera I take photos with, and most of the food that I stock our kitchen with every week.
IZEA is definitely the leader of paid blogging. They run two major companies/projects, and I’m sure you’ve heard of them — PayPerPost and SocialSpark.
This December, IZEA teamed up with K-Mart to promote everything K-Mart has to offer. To help get the word out K-Mart gifted six bloggers with $500 gift cards. Those bloggers had the opportunity to shop at K-Mart and write about their shopping experience and the products they found there.
But wait, it gets better!
Those six bloggers then took part in a large giveaway that consisted of six (6) $500 K-Mart gift cards as the prizes. To enter, participants had to comment and list items they would be interested in, or twitter about the giveaway. Winners would be chosen at random, with one (1) winner selected from each blog’s commenters, making six total.
You’d never believe it, and at first I didn’t, but I was chosen as one of the winners! Ted Murphy broadcasted the selected of winners on ustream this afternoon at 4pm, and my name and blog URL were called out as the second winner!
Watch the video (forward it to 00:05:41 to hear my name called!):
And, of course, stay tuned to blogging-girl.com and jenn.nu! I should be receiving my $500 K-Mart gift card this coming week (hopefully by Christmas Eve so that I can do some last minute shopping!), and you better believe I’ll be blogging about our shopping!
