Spam is annoying, irritating, inconvenient and often time-consuming to get rid of. So it’s no surprise that some of the most highly-sought after plugins and general website script plugins/modifications out there relate to the prevention and removal of spam. I have been using WordPress for almost five years, and during that time I have had more than my fair share of spam, and have tried many different plugins in an attempt to combat it.
One plugin that I stumbled upon a few months ago and absolutely love is Math Comment Spam Protection. This plugin functions as a preventative measure. Once activated, it adds a separate field to your comments form, with the field requiring the commenter to supply the correct answer to a simple mathematical problem. The plugin works flawlessly, and has done an excellent job of significantly reducing the amount of spam I receive on my blogs (jenn.nu, for example, was getting up to 100 spam comments per day. Now it receives no more than 2-5!).
Installing the plugin is as simple as dropping it into wp-content/plugins, activating it, visiting the config page and confirming the current setup (I’m not sure why, but you have to do this in order to fully activate the plugin), and adding a small snippet of code to comments.php.

Is that the one you’re using here? I commented someplace recently where they had a math CAPCHA but It didn’t work with the tab button so it annoyed the hell out of me. LOL
