When it comes to what I blog about, just about anything goes. If you’re familiar with my personal blog, jenn.nu, then you’ll know I mainly blog about day to day life. That is mostly comprised of my kids, my husband, my pets, work, and whatever I happen to be doing on a particular day.
But I blog about other things, too. Things that come to mind (a lot of random and spontaneous thoughts often get posted to my Twitter account), what’s going on in the news, hot issues, and so on and so forth. And if I had more time, I would most likely blog more often.
Of course, I do have standards, and there are things I don’t blog about. I don’t disclose my exact location. I don’t disclose my last name. And when I talk about family members other than my husband and children, I refer to them as their relation to me — my mother, my youngest brother, my sister-in-law, my husband’s aunt, etc.
And I try not to blog about boring things. I will sometimes take mundane topics and put a bit of a spin on them in order to make them more interesting, but I certainly don’t blog about boring stuff that nobody cares about, such as the fact that since I have four cats, I have to scoop litter every single day and change it every 10-14 days, and god I hate cat litter, and so on and so forth.
I also don’t blog about topics that aren’t mine to share, if that makes sense. I’ll tell you that my husband is doing jury duty (today was his first day; he serves on a trial tomorrow afternoon), but I won’t tell you about the issues my mother is going through.
How about you? Where do you draw the line?
