I’m a Zenni girl, in a blogging world
Frames of plastic, they’re fantastic
You can love my style, I can see for miles
Zenni Optical, they’re affordable!
Sing to the tune of Aqua’s “Barbie Girl”
I love Zenni Optical. I’ve blogged about them before, and here I am blogging about them again. But what’s not to love? They offer thousands of stylish, high quality plastic and metal prescription eyeglass frames, and the prescription lenses themselves! You can get yourself a decent pair of glasses, lenses and all, starting at just $12. Choose from plastic or metal frames in a variety of styles and shapes (rectangular and slightly angled are my favorites), specify your lenses based on your prescription (it is your responsibility to obtain and verify the accuracy of this, FYI), and you’re good to go! Zenni Optical has prescription eyeglasses for men, women, and kids. They even have prescription sunglasses – you choose the lens tint color and intensity.
More recently, Zenni Optical has introduced a new coating for their lenses, Fingerprint Resistant (Oleophobic) Anti-Reflective Coating, or AR. This snazzy anti-reflective coating repels and reduces the likelihood of water, oil, fingerprints, and dust from sticking to your lenses. Not only do your lenses stay cleaner for longer, but when they do need to be cleaned, they’re easier to clean! Also, this coating significantly reduces reflections, meaning you won’t have that annoying lens glare in photographs.
Zenni Optical’s Fingerprint Resistent Anti-Reflective oleophobic coating is a premium add-on for your prescription glasses, but it’s well worth the investment.
Not to be confused with a staycation. Because I work from home, a staycation would be a mistake – I’d wind up working and continuing with the housework as I always do! No, if I wanted to get away, I’d have to actually get away. I’d also have to make the supreme sacrifice of not bringing my laptop, netbook, or Macbook with me. To do so would be to set myself up to continue working. A prime example of this is last summer – Dan and I spent three days in Wildwood, New Jersey, with our friend Jason, and I probably spent a quarter of the time working. Argh. I could just see myself at a spa in Huntington Beach, getting a massage while checking my email. What can I say? I’m a workaholic. Sometimes that’s not a good thing though. D:

Dear bloggers who employ the use of Rafflecopter,
It would be utterly spectacular of you to “group” similar entry options together. For instance, if you are going to have five different Twitter follow options, why not put them all together? This way, I can go down the list and click Follow and then ctrl + v to put my Twitter name in the field in each one. Same with Facebook – down the list with the clicking of Like and then entering. When you list things in random order, it makes entering your giveaway a rather tedious process, particularly if there are a lot of Rafflecopter entries to complete. Plus, it makes your giveaway widget look much more organized.
Just my $0.02,
Blogging Girl
Giveaways are all the rage these days – I’ve hosted a few, entered a lot, and even won a few! But unless you follow the right people on Twitter or subscribe to the right blogs in your feed reader, you may not necessarily be abreast of all of the current giveaways that are going on. So without further ado, here’s a semi-extensive list of blogger groups that I keep tabs on in order to find giveaways – and I promote them at these locations, too! Many of these may also feature other opportunities, such as special blogger promotion campaigns, Busser Jobs, even the opportunity to monetize your blog.

Thanks to Zenni Optical’s superb selection of prescription eyeglasses, one thing I’m always able to do is blog in comfort – and by comfort I mean I’m able to see the computer monitor without a lick of eye strain. I’m also able to blog in style, since Zenni Optical carries thousands of frames in a variety of shapes and styles. You can find frames for men, frames for women, and frames for children. Prescription lenses are available for nearsightedness, farsightedness, and multi-focal needs (bi-focals, tri-focals, etc.).
I have purchased several pairs of glasses from Zenni Optical (four pairs for me, two pairs for my husband, and three pairs for my daughter), and I’m a very satisfied customer of theirs. Their prescription eyeglasses start at just $12 (that covers both the frame and the lenses!), and they have so many styles available it’s unreal. How can Zenni Optical afford to sell prescription eyeglasses so cheaply? Simple: they cut out the middle man. And by middle man, I mean that they do not operate any physical locations, and they do not verify prescriptions (it is your responsibility to obtain your own prescription from your optometrist and verify that it is both up-to-date and accurate). The results is them being able to focus on delivering stylish, functional, high-quality prescription eyeglasses to everyday consumers, such as yours truly. I definitely give them a 5-star rating!
The latest version of WordPress, version 3.3.1, was released today. Even though version 3.3 was released rather recently, 3.3.1 features over a dozen security updates and bug fixes, so you’ll definitely want to download it ASAP. You can also read more about the release of WordPress 3.3.1.
One of my goals in 2012 is to stay on top of my health needs. I’m doubling my protein shakes each day so that I’m taking in the required amount via shakes, and any other protein sources are just bonuses (last year I was only doing one shake per day, and relying on regular “food” sources for the other protein I needed, and I know that didn’t always pan out). I’m continuing to take my vitamins, and I’m going to keep taking the vitamin B and C complexes for energy and immune system boosting, because so far, with the exception of an icky sinus cold I woke up with on the 1st, I’ve been doing well in terms of fighting off illnesses.
Nopalea may be of interest to me, at least in terms of hopefully reducing some of my digestive issues (which may or may not be contributing to my frequent bouts of excruciating abdominal pain). Nopalea is a wellness drink whose juice comes directly from the Mexican Nopal cactus. The Nopal cactus is known for its healing properties, and Nopalea is designed to help reduce inflammation in the body that may be caused by toxins in the body (Nopalea neutralizes these).
When taken daily, Nopalea can help your body remove toxins and reduce inflammation, and overall promote optimal health. Want to try Nopalea? You can, for free, by calling 800-203-7063 (just pay S&H). Learn more on Facebook or Twitter, and of course check out Nopalea directly at their website.
Happy New Year, and all that jazz. I’m three days into the new year, and so far it’s been quiet, though quite productive on the work front. I do have a few goals in regards to blogging this year, and they are as follows:
- Update all of my blogs at least three times per week
- Keep WordPress installations up to date (speaking of which, WordPress 3.3.1 is available, so go update your installation of WordPress ASAP)
- Experiment with plugins instead of relying on the same ones for years (literally, years) on end
- Interact with other bloggers more frequently
It’s a good list, no? It may not seem like much, but trust me, it’ll be plenty for me!

When my husband took this job I told him I’d move with him under one condition: that he buy me the dream house I’d been longing for all these years. After some tense negotiations over what constituted a “dream house” he said he would and we packed up everything and moved out here. Yeesh. What a move it was! I was actually happier than I thought I’d be living in the rental for the first few months and now we’ve found the perfect house and I’m loving the change of scenery, to be honest with you. It’s really great having somewhere new to go and something new to see and I can’t wait until the Satellite Star Internet guy comes out so I can get email and Facebook at the house again. I think all in all this move wasn’t a bad thing and I’m glad I listened to my husband about what a good thing this would be for our family. As always, he was right about this one!
It’s “only” January 1st, but I fully intend on making the most of my blogging connections this year in terms of advertisement, sponsored posts, and product review opportunities. Product reviews are the most fun out of the bunch, especially when I get awesome products like external USB drives, lingerie (ooh la la), and pet products. I sent out a few inquiries early last week, but considering it’s the tail end of the holiday season I’m not surprised that I haven’t heard back from anyone yet.
I’ve noticed that t-shirt reviews are increasing in popularity, with a lot of bloggers writing about shirts similar to those like the funny t shirts at FoulMouthShirts.com. Eh, I’m not much of a t-shirt girl. Maybe it goes back to my Fat Girl Days and thinking that I looked ten times worse in t-shirts than I did in other shirts, but I am just not a t-shirt person. Plus, with the exception of the occasional turtleneck, I’m very used to lower-cut tops (not necessarily cleavage-revealing, but you know…), so the higher necks of t-shirts feel nearly stifling in comparison!
