One of the perks of my job (I work in blogger relations for an adult toy company) is going to a variety of blogging conferences. And first up this year is BlogHer!!! What’s so funny is that the timing of me getting this job (which was almost three months ago now!) was within a week or so of me talking to my husband about purchasing an early bird ticket so that attending BlogHer wouldn’t be so costly. Then, *poof*, I’m hired, and while we’re going over wages and benefits and job responsibilities, “Oh, and you’re definitely going to BlogHer!” was dropped in my lap. Sweet!

I’m definitely going to be tweeting from BlogHer, though a lot of it will be work-related, of course. But there will definitely be time for me to stop and tweet, take photos and blog about the event from a personal standpoint.

Right now my boss and I are working out the details of the plan, but so far it looks like the two of us will be traveling together and sharing a kick-ass suite in a hotel. I’m going to pack as light as I can, seeing as how trains and taxis will be our method of transportation. I’m leaving the laptop at home in favor of the netbook, and while I’m definitely bringing my camera, I may hold off on the bag. But then again, I’ll probably want to use different lenses, and I think we’re going to need the tripod for some posed photos. So as far as bags go, I probably will have my camera bag, and most definitely my purse (with netbook tucked inside, whee!), and then a backpack or one of my husband’s shoulder style bags for my clothes and toiletries. I’m going to pack as lightly as possible. I’m not going to be like some of those people you see, toting everything from a portable oxygen concentrator to the damn kitchen sink with them!
