Back in the day of my first domain (name withheld to protect my dignity, what little I have!), I paid over $40 for the registration. The domain name was a .org, and the registration period was for a year.

Yeah… I thought you’d say that. I said it too, two years later when I realized how badly I was ripped off.

A .com, .net or .org domain registration should cost you no more than $10 per year. If you are paying more, YOU ARE BEING RIPPED OFF. Shop around. Know your prices. Stay away from places like eNom unless you have a reseller account; otherwise they’ll rip you off too.

Personally, I recommend GoDaddy. Between their already decent prices and the various GoDaddy coupon codes you can find floating around the internet, you can easily register a .com, .net or .org domain name for less than $8 for the year.

In my history of domain registration, which goes back to 2000, I have used several hosting companies, and several domain registrars. Experience has shown me the best two domain registrars to work with, and they are eNom and GoDaddy. Their domain names are similarly priced, and their control panel and account areas are extremely well organized, and very easy to navigate through.

For the last year I have been using GoDaddy exclusively, and am pleased to report that I have never had a single problem with them.
